[If something seems different about Quinn today, there is. She has a little patch on the side of her shorts, a little pink heart...and she sewed it on all by herself! It actually looks good, mainly because she had a lot of help, and she only stuck herself with the needle once! Hard work actually feels good, who would've figured.

She's walking around town, kinda showing off, with a major skip in her step. If she catches sight of you, prepare to be chatted up. Or, if you're a hot guy, flirted with. And feel free to chat up or flirt with her if you wish!]

[She's about to gasp in horror at the idea if people going around in their bathrobes, but when he says "culture" she knows what he means.] Ohhh, you mean ceremonial robes. I guess it'd be too hot to wear those now. [Oh, those are flowers upon a closer look.]

Ah, well sort of. Not all of them need to be. I have worn ceremonial robes on a few occasions though.

So your culture always wears robes? Even in summertime? [That's not only a fashion risk, but she can only imagine how uncomfortably hot that is!]

Not all wear robes all the time. It depends on what sort of work you do, and the weather of course. Just because a garment covers a great deal, does not mean it can not be comfortable, and allow a nice breeze.

Oh, like the long dresses models wear in their summer photos? Or that silk robe I want but my mom says I'm too young to buy?

Something along those lines, yes.

I thought so! I've been trying to learn more about other cultures' fashion and some of it's really weird. Like those people who get a million piercings! Doesn't that hurt?!

Uh, I would assume it would hurt for moment and then would no longer hurt.

[He hasn't pierced anything so, not really the best source]

I mean places like the bridge of their nose, their eyelids, their lips! [shudders and turns pale] It only hurt a little when I had my ears done, but earlobes don't have as many nerves in them!

Typically speaking there are ways to numb an area before doing any sort of work on it, so I would imagine similar things would apply.

[It made a vague sort of sense]

Ohhh, like ice. Yeah, I get that. Boy, I called my sister a pain wimp when she's probably seen a lot of those people in magazines and never batted an eyelash! But it scared me at first!

There is no shame in being afraid of the unfamiliar at first. It is a natural reaction. It is in learning about others and accepting them that we can grow and develop further.

Really? Hm, I guess that makes sense... [She's never heard anyone talk like that before. Seriously, at least.]

[There is a smile and a stroking of his beard]

Broadening one's horizons is always a worthwhile endeavor.

That's what everyone always says! I just...didn't think much of it till last summer, I guess.

It's...a long story. Not a very good one, either. [She kinda wants to talk about it but she doesn't exactly wanna relive it.]

Thanks, sir. [tiny smile.] I know it helps to talk about things, but sometimes it's hard cause you don't wanna be thinking about them at all.

[He has a sad smile at that, and closes his eyes a moment]

I know that all too well, young miss.

Really? Well, I guess you'd know since you're so much older. [pause] I don't mean that in a bad way, of course! Just...you have more experience. Yeah!

I never assumed you meant it in a bad way. I take no offense.

[He is over sixty years old, being called old doesn't particularly phase him at this point]

Oh, good. Because...you seem like you've seen and done a lot of things. ...like having your heart broken. [Okay, so she is ready to talk about it. A little, at least.]

Yes, heart break is part of life. I have been on both the receiving and giving end.

[He was quite the ladies man in his younger days. Being the heir to the throne, handsome, and shameless will do that]

I've broken a few hearts myself. [hollow laugh] I never thought it was a big deal...not till it happened to me.
