[So Quinn's been actually doing some real thinking lately. What Daria said about magic, could it be true? Could she actually learn to cast pretty spells like the princesses and fairies in the movies?

Then again, magic would mean studying and hard work. And Quinn is still slightly at odds with that for...reasons. Yes. Reasons.

She did believe in angels, and still kind of does. But magic's a whole other story.

Shopping, on the other hand, is something she knows. So she's doing that right now.]

Hmm...I wonder how good this shade of purple would look on me. [she holds a pair of chic ankle socks in one hand. She's also considering buying a few things for Daria...just a few gifts to change her mind about a makeover. Hey, just because she understands Daria's resistance doesn't mean she won't stop trying.]

Right now I'm shopping for someone else, but I did want to pick out at least one new thing for myself.

[Because it seems like a shame not to, when she's not specifically shopping for a birthday present for someone. Her wardrobe is nowhere near as large as it used to be.

A relative. It's...kind of complicated how we're related, but I'm related to her through my dad. She's a really tough warrior lady, so I need to find her things she can practice martial arts in.

Yeah! Do you know anyone who would want to join? [She considers making guidelines, like back at home, but...well, to be honest, she's never agreed with most of Sandi's conditions.]

Hmmm...I'm not sure, but we could always just ask with the journals and find out who else would be interested. We could also welcome people who want a makeover or some fashion advice to stop by and get some help.

[In Bulla's opinion, this is the most important part of a fashion club - helping others to not be fashion disasters.]

I bet my mom wouldn't mind if we hosted it at the beauty salon, though.

Yes! That's perfect, we should do that as soon as we've finished shopping!

Let me check with Mom first so I can find out what day would be best.

[She doesn't know what kinds of projects her mom might be working on, after all. That's what happens when one's mother is both interested in fashion and in building inventions.]

We should probably have a day in mind and a plan for the first meeting in case people start asking questions.

Okay! Your mom's into fashion, too? [Quinn's mother acted like she was, but Quinn's mother is also embarrassing.]

Yes, she is. You know how the Malnosso can even take people from different points of time? She's younger here. She's thirty two, but she looks like she's in her early twenties instead. It was a little weird at first but she adjusted really fast! She even helped me pick out a couple of cute outfits when I first got here.

[It had been kind of bizarre, but Bulla's got a high threshold of weird and adjusted quite well, herself.]

Wow! You're lucky, your mom sounds really cool. Even if I met my mom when she was younger she'd still be a hippie.

[blink] Wait...from different parts of time? You mean if they decided to bring my dad here from when he was like twelve I'd meet my Dad as a kid?

Weird as it sounds, yeah. That's something that could happen here. I'm just glad my mom's still an adult and she's at least met my dad.

Yeah, it would have been way more awkward if I ran into my dad when he was ten or something.

An angry little warrior prince. To be fair, he had plenty of reasons to be angry. He didn't grow up in a peaceful place...so he really didn't get a childhood. Just a lot of combat training.

[She's sugarcoating a lot, but she doesn't want to freak Quinn out or tell more about her father than he'd be comfortable with her sharing.]

Your dad was a prince?! Wow...so wait, you're royalty? I'm not gonna treat you any different, don't worry, it's just...wow, that's pretty cool!

Nobody treats me like royalty, though. My mom's side of the family isn't nobility or anything, but my grampa started up one of the biggest corporations in my world. Money isn't an issue when I go shopping, in any case.

I never really thought of it that way, but I guess it is. Anyway, I know my mom will really like you, Quinn. She can represent fashionable grownups in the club.
