[The new Fashion Club has been a success, and it feels more like a fashion club than the old one. Back home she and the girls were all talk, but here they're actually doing something to help those in need. This is the sort of thing Quinn always wished she could do without looking like a tryhard geek in front of the girls, or suggest without Sandi shouting her down.

She's at the store right now, looking at various makeup shades and hair colors. Considering a little change...not a complete dye job, but some highlights. Maybe a subtle copper or gold shade to bring out its natural beauty.

Plus, she needs some new mascara. Her old one's officially three months old and almost empty anyway.]

Now, should I buy my usual black or go for a more natural-looking brown? Or perhaps midnight blue...

Well, here it's free, so it's just a matter of what's available, really. I think you should stick with black for now, and maybe go with brown for your fall wardrobe.

[Fortunately, it doesn't take too long to find a few lonely waterproof packages of mascara off in the corner. Bulla claims a midnight blue for herself and passes a black to Quinn.]

Waterproof is best to have for beach parties...and also for training.

Anytime, Quinn. Oh, by the way, my birthday is in ten days and I'm having a party. Obviously you're invited. Help me pick out something cute to wear? I want to look good, but not so good that my dad's going to give any boy that gets near me a nasty glare.

[He'd probably scowl at them anyway, but she doesn't want her party guests to be uncomfortable.]

Do you think I should wear a dress, or just a nice shirt and shorts? As long as the weather is nice, I want most of the party to be outside.

[Less of a hassle to clean up, and less likely to get loud and stuffy if they're out in the open air.]

I was thinking about getting a bikini with little shorts bottoms...maybe if I wore those under the dress, I could avoid at least some of the possible disasters.

[Hardly any garment was completely fool proof, but some clothing invited more wardrobe malfunctions than others.]

It seems like the best way to avoid an awkward wardrobe malfunction...especially if it's a bit windy outside.

[Not to mention, she'll be well prepared if someone decides to start a water fight outside.]

As long as our dresses are different, I don't consider it copying. If there's someone going around looking under skirt, we've got bigger problems than being seen as copying each other. Luckily, that's the perfect problem for Dad to take care of.

[Which he would, with extreme prejudice against the offender. He's a bit of a prude anyway, but when something like that is directed toward his wife or daughter...well.]

And vice versa, of course. Different body types best fit different things.

[Being short, Bulla really can't pull of styles that are best suited for an average to tall girl, for example.]

You'd pull off those high waisted pants that look great on some girls, but really stupid on others. I'd be in the "looks really stupid on" category.

Yeah, you usually need a shirt that drapes kind of loosely but that isn't casual. Like those sheer button down shirts...except then you have to make sure that the cami you wear underneath works with the pants, too.

[Proof that fashion takes more thought than some people think it does, in Bulla's opinion.]
